# Privacy policy wording for the WhoLayer tag

> Sample notice text, a privacy-choices link, and consent-banner code to adapt for your site.

Category: Privacy and compliance

Our [Terms](https://wholayer.com/legal/terms) require a privacy policy that tells visitors about the tag before it runs. Sample wording is on our [customer notice templates](https://wholayer.com/legal/customer-notice) page:

- **Visitor ID (B2B)** and **Shopper ID (ecommerce)** paragraphs for your privacy policy, with WhoLayer's opt-out link (wholayer.com/privacy-request).
- A **"Your privacy choices"** footer link, and a button that stops the tag in the visitor's browser (`wholayer("optout")`).
- **Cookie banner** code: `wholayer("consent", true)` when a visitor accepts, `wholayer("consent", false)` when they decline.
- A **checklist** for before you go live.

These are starting points, not legal advice, and using them doesn't by itself make your site compliant. Have your own lawyer adapt them.
