Google Customer Match
Sync hashed emails into a Google Ads Customer Match list. Currently paused for a policy review.
Part of ad audiences. Google Customer Match is coming soon. Google's Customer Match policy asks advertisers to upload first-party data, and we're confirming how identified visitors fit that before we switch it on.
How it will work
- Open Ad audiences, tick that you accept Google's Customer Match terms, and click Connect Google. Sign in with a Google account that can manage the Google Ads account.
- Enter the 10-digit Google Ads customer ID, and the manager account ID only if you reach the account through a manager account.
- Create an audience. We create a Customer Match list in that account and keep it in sync.
Good to know
- We use Google's Data Manager API. Emails are trimmed and lowercased, and for gmail.com and googlemail.com addresses the dots and anything after a "+" are removed before hashing, as Google asks.
- Google needs a good policy and payment history on the account to use Customer Match, and recommends at least 5,000 people so enough of them match.
- Google reports matched counts for Search and Display, and a match rate.
