Send shoppers to Brevo
Shopper ID with Brevo: what's charged, what's supported, and how to connect it.
Included on the Growth plan and above.
What you're charged
Before we charge, we check whether the shopper is already in your Brevo. New shoppers cost 2 credits, once; shoppers already there cost 1 credit, are never duplicated, and get a wholayer_returning_shopper event instead.
What Brevo supports
- Checks your list first: yes.
- Refunds bounces: no. Report a bounced shopper and it's refunded under the usual rules.
- Deliverability Guard: a fixed cap of 50 new contacts a day (or your own setting, if lower), because we can't read your rates.
- Holdout report: yes, from your orders.
Connect it
- In Brevo, open Settings → SMTP & API → API keys and generate an API key (it starts with
xkeysib-; an SMTP key won't work). - In WhoLayer, open Destinations, choose Brevo, and paste the key.
- Click Send test. New shoppers are created on no list.
- Build an automation triggered by the custom event wholayer_shopper_identified or wholayer_returning_shopper (Brevo doesn't allow spaces in event names).
Good to know
- Brevo only offers marketing bounces and complaints per person as a delayed file export, so they aren't refunded automatically. Report a bad result by hand instead.
- Brevo has no account-wide 7-day marketing email counts, so the Deliverability Guard uses a fixed daily cap.
- Brevo event names can't contain spaces, so the events are wholayer_shopper_identified and wholayer_returning_shopper. The holdout report reads orders from Brevo's eCommerce app.
- Opted-out people are never sent, and opt-outs take effect immediately.
- We encrypt your key when you save it and only ever show its last characters.
